Zhupa: The Assembly has become a notary of government draft laws
Ina Zhupa

Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa described the Assembly as a "notary" of government draft laws in an interview today. Zhupa stated that what is happening is not in accordance with either the Assembly's regulations or the Constitution.

She further added during her speech to Syri TV that every request from the opposition is immediately rejected by the majority, although according to her the request is based on the rules of the Assembly. Among these rejected requests, Zhupa mentioned the motions with debate on the integration process and on condemning the Serbian genocide in Kosovo.

"It is the same situation that has started since the beginning of this legislature, which is actually not a novelty. It is a way that Edi Rama has chosen to turn the Assembly into a notary of the government's draft law decisions. This is neither in accordance with the Assembly's regulations nor in compliance with the Constitution, nor in accordance with what is our mission as deputies, which is that we should speak there about the public interest, that we should raise our voices and debate for the interest of Albanian citizens. We have a standard response there from the majority against every request that is based on the Assembly's regulations. Every response is NO and NO in violation of every article of the regulations.

We submitted two motions for debate last week. One related to the integration process, what are the steps the government is taking in this new program, given that the government's program to move forward on the path of integration was not even discussed, and another motion to condemn the Serbian genocide in Kosovo. Both received a NO from the majority by force of cards at the conference of mayors.

"This week, today, we discussed a new motion with debate on the need to create a special commission for IPARD funds. You know very well, all Albanians know very well that IPARD funds in the EU were stolen, that IPARD funds are now banned for Albania because a complete scan must be done and the funds that were misappropriated for years by the fathers of those who are part of criminal groups must be returned," Zhupa said./CNA
