"We are the most scandalous country in the Council of Europe"/ Rama:

Prime Minister Edi Rama, while answering questions from journalists, said that Albania is the most scandalous country in the Council of Europe in terms of the number of prisoners. Rama said that the number of people who are currently in prison without having been convicted is greater than the number of those who are in prison after being convicted.

"I'm telling you that Albania is the most scandalous country in the entire Council of Europe community. We are at the bottom of the list with a difference from the others for pre-trial detention, for imprisoning people without trial. The number of people who are in prison today without having been convicted is greater than the number of those who are in prison convicted. You know how many of them there are, you don't. Because the pots have the words prison, theft, thief like salt, pepper and sauce. We are the most scandalous country in the Council of Europe for the level of sentences. We had only Russia behind us but it was excluded. This country has gone through this trauma once. This shows that in Albania, the probability of finding yourself in prison as a suspect is higher than going to prison as a guilty person. The Council of Europe has made an entire document on pre-trial detention. That document is an alarm. Because at the end of the day, the sense of justice is better 100 guilty people outside than one innocent person inside. This is the sense of democratic justice. What is left for those who go through this innocent ordeal. We are talking more about those with whom the pots are not taken at all. KiE says that extreme security measures are being imposed in Albania without justification for why they should be imposed. Every kind of measure must be argued , "said Rama. /CNA
