"Irresponsible and incompetent institutions"/ Zhupa: The asphalting of the 'Via Egnatia' was done with the approval of IKTK

Democratic MP Ina Zhupa accused today of irresponsibility and institutional incompetence, as according to her, IKTK has given approval for the asphalting of the 'Via-Egnatia'.

Through a post on social media, Zhupa states that this attitude is a scandal against our cultural heritage.

Zhupa adds that the Via Egnatia road is not an ordinary road, but part of a history of national and international value.

Irresponsible and incompetent institutions. The Director of IKTK admits that the asphalting of Via Egnatia was done with their approval!

Today, at the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora, during a hearing with representatives of IKTK, I asked direct questions about the scandalous intervention in the historic Via Egnatia road:

Has the municipality applied for this project?

Have you seen and approved this intervention?

The director's answer was yes: we have seen it, we have approved it, and according to her, there is no problem.

This admission is shocking. It clearly shows a profound institutional irresponsibility towards our cultural heritage. The Via Egnatia is not an ordinary road, it is part of a history of national and international value.

While we have demanded institutional protection, restoration according to international standards and the removal of any illegal intervention that deforms the values ??of the ancient road, denouncing it as a product of local ignorance and arrogance, this is the "protection" that IKTK has given to our heritage to "add value"!!!

"It is absurd when an institution that is tasked with protecting our heritage sees destruction as something "okay". This is no longer a sporadic issue but is an alarm about the way we think and act to the detriment of our history," Zhupa said./CNA
