The former Special Envoy of the USA for the Western Balkans, Richard Grenell, has severely criticized the President of the USA, Joe Biden, for the Kosovo-Serbia tensions.

Grenell said on Çim Peka's show that the Biden administration made a strategic mistake with its withdrawal from Kosovo and leaving the leadership of the dialogue to the Europeans.

"Unfortunately, the position of the Biden administration was for the Americans to step back and the Europeans to be the leaders of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. I think this was a strategic mistake. We have seen NATO troops that should have been added to Kosovo. When I was the special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, I put forward the idea that NATO troops should be reduced and the reason was because we were making great economic progress, and the businesses that were coming from all over the world to Albania, Kosovo, Serbia and region not to have the idea of ??a possible conflict", he said.

Grenell claims that if Donald Trump were President, the situation in Kosovo would not be tense.

"I believe that American leadership is very important and we should not leave this to the Europeans and expect them to come up with a solution. We know what they have been up to for the past 3 years.

My belief is that we would not have this situation if Donald Trump was in office and the reason for this is that if Trump were President, we would have the American leader to continue to push Kosovo and Serbia towards economic normalization. The policy now is for the Europeans to lead this process and I don't think it's a good policy", he emphasized./ CNA.al
