The head of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, requested the change of the electoral system.

During a TV interview, Mediu said that the essence of this request for changing the electoral system is for citizens to receive their rights.

He stated that the 2008 agreement has brought extremely big problems and has given more power than necessary to party leaders outside of any democratic standards.

"One of the main factors that we don't have free and fair elections and functional democracy is the implementation of the electoral system that came with the 2008 agreement, which has created extremely big problems. It was an agreement that weakened the role and representation of citizens in the Assembly and gave more authority to party leaders outside of any democratic standard," declared the head of the Republican Party./ CNA.al
