The SP representative in the Diaspora vote dialogue group, Damian Gjiknuri, spoke to the media after the meeting.

Gjiknuri asked for classic voting, by mail. He said that the Albanian Post has a reliable system and ballots can be sent without any problem.

"We also consulted with experts from other institutions, whether to go for electronic voting is another matter. But at a distance, it gets a little difficult. The most likely variant remains the classic one. Every Albanian citizen living abroad will be able to vote through a reliable postal system. In general, the demands of the diaspora have been for the postal system. The opposition always wants a parallel state when it comes to elections. We trust Albanian Post or e-Albania. The Albanian Post system is reliable, but we will discuss it. Remote platform voting is a must see. If immigrants vote electronically, then the same thing should happen to Albanians inside the country", he said.

As for the proposal for a combined postal and electronic vote, the representative of the SP claims that it is discrimination. He declared that the citizens of Albania may not be able to leave the house.

"There may be over 50,000 Albanians who cannot leave their homes, and why not let them vote with an electronic system. We should enable the remote voting element for everyone, if ODIHR accepts it. It will take some time and consultation. But PS, it's with the principle of using the best of what you have. We have started contacts with the diaspora, they serve us for the establishment of structures in the diaspora and their engagement in the elections", emphasized Gjiknuri./ CNA
