Gaz Bardhi denounces Begaj: His son is paid by a company that receives tenders

The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has made a denunciation of President Bajram Begaj.

Bardhi has denounced that the President's son receives a large salary at a company that has received tenders from the Presidency.

He announced that the President's son, who studied and worked abroad, is also employed in Albania, at an insurance company.

Begaj's son, 23 years old, provides consultancy for thousands of euros, for an activity that is not his field of study.

"In violation of Articles 11, 86, 88 and 89 of the Constitution, he has created a permanent state of conflict of interest, which violates free competition in the market, by granting the benefit of all public procurements of the President's Institution in the relevant field to the private company where his son was employed after the appointment of Mr. Bajram Begaj as President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has committed a serious violation of the Constitution, because:

· He continued to exercise public duties at the Armed Forces Academy and private activities at Acibadem Hospital in violation of his constitutional obligation to renounce any type of public duty or private activity, focusing entirely on the highest state duty, that of the President of the Republic;

·It has violated the principle of free competition, in terms of equality of participants in public contracts, by awarding all public procurements in the field of insurance to the private company, where the son is employed, under conditions of factual conflict of interest;

·It has seriously damaged public trust in the figure of the President of the Republic, because the generation of income from other public duties and private activities by Bajram Begaj himself, as well as the generation of income by his son (related person) from a private company in contractual relations with the Institution of the President of the Republic, create the perception among citizens of the use of public office for personal gain.

For this serious violation of the Constitution and the Law, unprecedented for a President of the Republic, I have authorized the legal team of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party to prepare a criminal report, which will be submitted within this week to the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, as there is a reasonable suspicion, based on evidence, that we are in the conditions of consumption of at least two criminal offenses, in collaboration, namely "Violation of equality of participants in public tenders" and "Passive corruption of senior state officials", provided for by articles 25, 258 and 260 of the Criminal Code", said Bardhi.

Among other things, he said that, according to the Constitution, the president is prohibited from carrying out any state or private activity, while the president is president in the morning and in the afternoon provides consultancy for several medical clinics for 200 euros.
