The Democratic Party has filed a request in Parliament for the dismissal of President Bajram Begaj.

In a statement to the media, the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, stated that Begaj has violated the Constitution.

"The President has committed 7 serious Constitutional violations. Specifically, serious and repeated violations of the Constitution by the President are the unconstitutional decree of the elections for the Municipality of Tirana. He has brutally interfered with the competencies of local government. In 35 years of democracy, the Constitutional Court has been stripped bare. The President of the Republic Bajram Begaj, in this violation identified by us, has committed a violation of the Constitution. He has put the partial elections for the Municipality of Tirana in a constitutional impasse, causing confusion among the voters. He has taken the competencies of the judiciary, using jurisdiction. He has shown partiality and allowing the exercise of powers. He has disrupted the balance of checks and balances of power. He has directly interfered with constitutional autonomy. He has usurped the competencies of the Constitutional Court", said Bardhi./ CNA
