Lawyer Brizida Gjikondi said today that the hearing with UBT rector Fatbardh Sallaku, with the SP group and in the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama, was unnecessary.

Gjikondi said he is not a defendant, but a person under investigation, referring to SPAK investigations and the 24 security measures issued for university staff, following suspicions of tender abuse.

In a television interview, Gjikondi said that security measures are the personal responsibility of every individual.

 "I think Mr. Rama has lost his composure, these are unnecessary statements and meetings. He is disappointing in the journey so far, he is doing it on the limits of unconstitutionality. It is not worthy of the Albanian left, Mr. Rama cannot replace either the court or the Albanian prosecution. As for the case of Mrs. Klotilda Bushka, but especially for the case of the rector, perhaps Mr. Rama does not have the right advisors to tell him that Mr. Rector is under investigation, he is not a defendant. There are links and levels of appeal where they can be overthrown. Any person under investigation by the Albanian justice system can request hearings, but you cannot hear a request for political immunity from the justice system. Either you are right, or you are not right. There is no measure of detention without trial. Persons under investigation are not defendants, they are under investigation", - said Gjikondi. /CNA
