The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, honored today the 22 intellectuals executed by the communist regime, on the 74th anniversary of their murder.

Berisha emphasized that the greatest act of honor that can be given to these martyrs is the liberation of Albania from what he described as the "second dictatorship."

During a statement made today at this homage, Berisha said that Edi Rama, today, uses the same methods, violating laws and the Constitution, against political opponents, to keep his regime afloat.

"Today we honor the martyrdom of 22 intellectuals, among the prominent figures of the Albanian nation, who were executed after a trap organized by the Albanian secret police and the KGB, the throwing of a grenade or a bomb at the Soviet embassy at that time, but which had absolutely no connection with the colossal intellectuals who could never reconcile with the communist regime.

This was an ugly crime against humanity that the regime committed in the wake of the civil war, in the wake of crimes committed since the founding of the Albanian Communist Party as a section of the Yugoslav Communist Party, and until the end of its existence.

Today, we honor and bow down to the immortal work of these martyrs, who were selected by the regime, but also personally by Enver Hoxha, who with his own hand added several names, including Sabiha Kasimatin, an intellectual, a scientist, a true researcher.

Dear citizens, the greatest honor we pay today to these dignified representatives of the elite of the Albanian nation is to unite, to engage all forces to liberate Albania from this second dictatorship, imposed by a bastard of those who executed 22 innocent intellectuals solely for their opinions against the totalitarian dictatorship.

Edi Rama, today, uses the same methods, violating laws and the Constitution, against political opponents, to keep his regime afloat.

Today is an opportunity for all Albanians to join with May 11 to give the final push to the galleys of history to a regime based on crime, drugs, and the theft of Albanians.

"We honor forever the martyrs of the Albanian nation, who were executed solely as opponents of the fierce enemy of the Albanians, the communist doctrine and the communist regime," Berisha said. /CNA
