Rama in 'attack' on justice/ What does he say about the Thoma

Prime Minister Edi Rama, present at the hearing where the Socialist Party parliamentary group gathered, spoke at length about issues related to justice. Among them, he mentioned the case of former RTSH director Thoma Gëllçi, after he won the case at the Strasbourg Court.

Rama responded to the lawyer, saying that the legal profession is a sovereign entity and is not subordinate to the prime minister's office.

Rama said that a subject addresses the European Court after having exhausted internal avenues of appeal.

Rama stated that the legal profession is obliged to defend the organs and institutions of the republic in the European Court.

"Democracies have built this balancing system.

I will respond to the lawyer and those who question the state's advocacy.

It is a sovereign entity.

And it is not subordinate to the prime minister.

It doesn't belong to the government.

When a subject addresses the European Court, with a request after having exhausted domestic avenues of appeal.

The Bar is obliged to protect the organs and institutions of the republic there.

How come I tell the state attorney to go there and say that Thoma Gëllci is a victim of the justice system?

"This is the spirit and philosophy of those who love Albania only for themselves and when that doesn't happen, they are ready to sell it in every market in Europe," Rama said./CNA
