The truth about Thoma Gëllçi in Strasbourg
Thomas Gëlçi

Yesterday, a Strasbourg decision exploded in the media, a decision given to the former director of RTSH, Thoma Gëllçi.

There were strong reactions and misinterpretations.

First, a simple story continues to be confused, everything is billed to SPAK, not the court's decision.

Neither Thoma Gëllçi, nor anyone else, are, have not been, nor are they behind bars without a court decision.  Without a court decision, no one goes to prison. Although it has now become a culture for everything to be billed to SPAK.

Let's look at the Strasbourg decision.

According to the decision issued by the Strasbourg Court, the arrest and sentencing of citizen Thoma Gëllçi was not found to be illegal, but only an extension of the deadlines.

In short, the arrest of citizen Thoma Gëllçi and his detention for up to 6 months in prison was deemed legal, but the three-month extension of the detention period to collect more evidence was found illegal.

So, only three months of additional detention, as Strasbourg tells the court and prosecutor that you should not keep him in custody since you had 6 months to find all the evidence, given that the sentence for which Thoma Gëllçi was received or investigated by the court was for abuse of office, which in Albania in most cases, if we look at it, there is no sentence longer than one year.

Therefore, the Strasbourg court only awarded 5 thousand euros in damages to Thoma Gëllçi and issued a decision in his favor only for the three months of additional detention, not for his initial sentence and detention.

The Prime Minister used the case of Thoma Gëllçi as an argument, but again, he either doesn't know or they lied to him.

Therefore, those who confuse it either haven't read it, or are being stupid, or there is another mission that is very likely to be related to that of arresting Veliaj, but the two cases are unrelated to each other, since Thoma Gëllçi's case is an abuse of office with an extension of the term, while in Veliaj's case we are dealing with corruption and laundering of criminal proceeds, criminal offenses that carry up to 15 years in prison and a minimum of one year in pre-trial detention.

So they change fundamentally. The truth of Thoma Gëllçi is what we said above. Everything else is a lie of a corrupt media machine./ CNA
