Binaj for Tirana/ Alimehmeti responds to Shehaj

Ilir Alimehmeti has responded to the statement of the leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, regarding Florjan Binaj's candidacy for mayor of Tirana.

Alimehmeti states that the DP has respected every principle of selecting candidates discussed with the opposition allies. He also says that the DP has accepted the point of non-partisan candidacy requested by Sheaj himself.

In the post also addressed to the citizens of Tirana, Alimehmeti says that Binaj presented himself as a candidate who meets every principle jointly accepted by all allied forces. The Democrat says that Binaj is a critical and courageous voice of society, while saying that in recent years he has been distinguished for his public stances against social and political injustices.

Alimehmeti has invited Shehaj and the Opportunity Party to join forces with the rest of the opposition group and support Binaj's candidacy for the Tirana municipality.

Addressed to the honorable citizens and Mr. Shehaj:

1. The Democratic Party has been completely open and has respected each of the candidate selection principles that were discussed with allied and opposition forces, and has even accepted the point of non-partisan candidacy requested by Mr. Shehaj himself publicly.

2. During today's official communication of the Democratic Party, Mr. Florjan Binaj was presented as a candidacy that meets every principle jointly accepted by all allied forces.

The negotiating group immediately requested meetings with all opposition forces, including the Opportunity Party, to discuss Mr. Binaj's candidacy, but these requests were met with no response from the Opportunity leadership structures.

3. Mr. Florjan Binaj is an excellent civic candidate, a critical and courageous voice of society. In recent years, he has been noted for his public stances against social and political injustices.

There have been times when he has distanced himself from major projects due to his moral convictions, a gesture that requires integrity and courage.

Mr. Florjan Binaj enjoys respect earned through work and dignity. He is not a figure who has built his fame on scandals or unnecessary promotion, but has become known and respected thanks to his talent, hard work, and ethical and professional behavior.

Despite his success, Florjan Binaj has maintained his simplicity and has always been perceived as an "ordinary man" who does not forget where he came from, characteristic of a devoted family man and a model citizen.

We invite Mr. Shehaj and the Opportunity Party to join forces with the opposition group in support of Mr. Binaj's candidacy to change the face of Tirana and to change the pattern of abuse and arrogance shown towards it by candidates for the positions of power.

We believe that Mr. Shehaj has the undeniable opportunity to openly show his oppositional stance in civic support towards the worthy candidacy of Mr. Florjan Binaj for Mayor of Tirana!/CNA
