The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, gave a speech at the table organized by the Democratic Women's League, noting the role of women in politics.

He appreciated the extraordinary contribution of ladies and girls, who he said have been the main pillar of the Democratic Party in its political actions and challenges.

Bardhi emphasized that the engagement of women in politics is irreplaceable and necessary for the success of any competition or political action.

"I see that in the hall there are ladies, women and girls, who already have a life that is active in the Democratic Party, giving an extraordinary contribution to this party. I have often seen them in the political actions of the Democratic Party, where in many cases are more active than men themselves.

This is because, according to my point of view, any political party that aims to succeed in any political contest or action must have the ladies at the forefront, at the top, where they deserve it.

My short, not too long, experience in politics has taught me one thing: what women achieve in activities, actions or campaigns, we men sometimes find it difficult to do. Therefore, if we want to succeed in the challenges that await us in a few months, the commitment that the Secretary General took before you today must be implemented.

This commitment should not be implemented simply as a gender quota - a battle that Albana and her honorable colleagues in the parliament have developed during the adoption of the Electoral Code - but it should be implemented because your role is irreplaceable.

Personally, I have been fortunate to lead a caucus during this time that has more women than any Democratic Party caucus has ever had before. The Secretary General said that the participation of women makes politics more peaceful. I, on the other hand, have often found that the ladies of our caucus have been more combative than many of the men within the caucus. This means that the more ladies we have in the next parliamentary group, the stronger we will all fight together to protect the public interest.

Engagement in politics is not easy for ladies. In particular, your engagement during these 12 years, due to the regime of Edi Rama, has been very difficult. I have met teachers, doctors and women working in the administration who are engaged in the Democratic Party, and who tell me how, even in 2024, they continue to be intimidated and persecuted, just because they engage in politics and are part of the Democratic Party.

But, although they talk about the intimidation, pressure or persecution that is done to them every day, in every conversation with them I see the determination to continue forward, to stay, to sacrifice and to do the best, of course for the Democratic Party, but above all for Albania," emphasized the chairman of the DP parliamentary group./ CNA
