The DP's political leader for the diaspora, Jozefina Topalli, has reacted to the decision of the Constitutional Court for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

Topalli said in a connection with journalist Armela Ferko that the decision on Berisha breaks and violates the Constitution of Albania.

According to her, in this case we are in the conditions of a crisis of institutional illegitimacy.

"Actually, I have very little time to read and understand the decision of the Constitutional Court, but I believe that I have two main elements clear. In my judgment, I see this as a court decision, which was taken in complete violation and violation of the Constitution. 

However, when the Constitutional Court overturns the Constitution, we are in the conditions of a crisis of institutional illegitimacy. Perhaps this is the most serious crisis of the Albanian democratic state in the institutional sense of the word.

With today's decision, it has undermined the constitution and itself. The assembly is the main pillar of a country's democracy, and when power is taken from the assembly, then we are in cases of undermining healthy parliamentary democracy.

Currently, a chain is joining, undermining all the institutions so that someone holds a power that he considers a privilege not to let go and does not consider it a responsibility to serve the public interest of a country", Topalli emphasized./ CNA
