Balluk in Azerbaijan: Gasification increases energy security for Albania and the
Belinda Balluku

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku was in Azerbaijan where she participated in the 10th Ministerial of the Southern Gas Corridor, at the same time the second Ministerial for green energy.

Gasification was the focus of this meeting, where Prime Minister Edi Rama, a guest of President Ilham Alijev, was also present. Gas remains an important source of energy and at this point Albania has taken steps ahead of the gasification process, with the support of Azerbaijan.

"It was discussed long and wide in terms of all the priorities related to the gasification of some of the main countries or even the gas transmission lines which are already concrete and operate throughout Europe. But after the Russian aggression in Ukraine, gas has been one of the most important issues discussed in terms of supply for all of Europe, but of course also the creation of security deposits, as today there is widespread talk about a green agenda that Albania certainly leads as well as and Scandinavian countries since our production is based 100% on renewable resources. But on the other hand, the creation of gas infrastructure and the creation of an opportunity to have alternative sources would certainly give Albania, but also the region, a higher energy security", Balluku said in a statement to the media.

Focusing on the visit to Azerbaijan, the Deputy Prime Minister announced that several agreements have been signed between the two countries, including the decision to waive visas. This is an indicator of the good relations that exist between Albania and Azerbaijan.

"A number of agreements have been signed with the Azerbaijani side in terms of economic agreements and economic developments that will take place between the two countries in the future, of course, and an agreement related to the lifting of visas between the two countries. We will continue with important meetings today in order to reach other conclusions of economic development and another approximation of the relations that our two countries have had for a long time in an excellent bilateral way", added Balluku. ./CNA
