Balla: We will keep our word for an Albanian consulate in Crete

Minister of State and political leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, during a visit to Chania, Crete, focused on the voices of Albanians in the diaspora in the elections of May 11, 2025.

"The diaspora vote was a historic and very clear vote for the direction our Albania should take. Two out of three Albanians in the diaspora voted for Edi Rama and the Socialist Party, to conclude this decade with Albania in the EU," said Balla.

During the meeting with the Albanian community in Crete, Balla emphasized the importance of the diaspora vote as a turning point in the relationship of the Albanian state with citizens living abroad.

"I thank you for your hospitality and for your historic vote on May 11. The vote of the diaspora has opened a new stage in the relationship of the Albanian state with you. We need to do more for every Albanian living in every corner of the globe and in Greece," Balla said.

Balla ensured commitment to strengthen ties with the diaspora and guarantee the rights of Albanians wherever they are, such as the opening of the Albanian consulate in Crete.
