The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, gave an interview from his cell to Syri.net.

Meta spoke about the decision of the Appeals Court of Kosovo to leave the security measure against him in force, a decision for which he said there is no reason to remain in detention.

The PL leader has said that the justice system has been subverted and police officers are supervising judges.

 

"The first two times, even though their decisions, after my arrest, were unfair, I understood them well, because I know how much pressure they were under from the entire regime, which definitely wanted me in prison because of the May 11 elections. But now, when it's been 9 months since the day of my kidnapping, when the investigations have been postponed twice, when not only is there no evidence against me, but also the evidence previously claimed by SPAK has been dropped, why should I remain in detention? Because SPAK conducts financial analyses of people who have no connection to me, and who enjoy complete freedom! This is a scandalous situation, but in dictatorships there is no question of due process or independent courts. Especially for the special judges, who are not only selected in a "special" manner, but are by law permanently supervised by officers of the BKH, which is subordinate to SPAK, which is party to the trial process. In all the systems that the European Court of Human Rights has had the opportunity to evaluate regarding secret surveillance, the concern has been that the actions of the police authorities will be limited and controlled by independent judges. Whereas in our country, thanks to the "new" justice, the system has been overturned and police officers supervise the judges ," said Meta.
