The US ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, declared yesterday that "non-women" people should not be voted by the citizens in the May 14 elections, referring to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.

After this statement, the opposition accused Yuri Kim of supporting the government, while there has already been a reaction from the American embassy.

The statement states that mudslinging and lies are old political tactics, which should not be used in the future, as they are unworthy of a NATO ally that seeks to become part of the EU.

"Defamation and lies about the US Ambassador are an old tactic that Albanians know because it has been used against every ambassador as a way to attack US policy. These old methods are unworthy of a proud NATO ally, EU aspirant country, and close friend of the United States. These shameful remnants of the past must remain in the past", says the reaction to Vizion Plus./ CNA.al
