Action against illegal constructions/Vangjeli: Rama protects the oligarchs'

The anti-corruption spokesperson for the Democratic Party, Genta Vangjeli, has denounced the government for its crackdown on illegal construction.

According to Vangjeli, this is another show.

Further, Vangjeli stated that if the action were real, the minister should start work from the towers in the center of Tirana.

Genta Vangjeli's statement

A few days ago, Interior Minister Albana Koçiu, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Tirana, the General Director of the State Police and the director of IKMT, staged another public 'show' near Lake Thatë in Tirana, to show the government's 'commitment' against illegal construction.

If this action were real, Minister Koçiu should have started work just a few meters from her office, in the center of the capital, where tower after tower is being erected.

Let's start with the building permits or additional floors of 'Tirana's Rock', 'Book Building', 'MET Building Tirana', 'Eyes of Tirana', 'WEST Residence', 'Forest Tower', 'Block Cube', 'Bound Tower' and many others.

Not forgetting luxury residences like Tirana Festival City, Square 21, Fiori di Bosco, Tirana Splendor and dozens of other gigantic projects that have surrounded the capital with concrete and dirty money.

Edi Rama's project to fill Tirana with high-rise towers has been called by him a 'European vision', while for ordinary citizens it has turned into a giant money laundering machine.

Until 2018, Tirana's central square was protected due to its historical value. Only after changes made by the government did the protection line disappear and new towers began to rise one after another.

Today, a square meter in these buildings costs up to 5,000 euros, prices unaffordable for ordinary residents who have no space in them, which is why most of them are empty, a clear sign of money laundering that is happening in front of everyone.

We recall that in the last seven years, construction permits have been granted in Tirana for around 12 million square meters of residential and commercial space, a large part of which is in the city center, while no government action dares to approach the towers.

The reason is simple: Edi Rama himself is behind them.

The Democratic Party calls on SPAK to urgently investigate:

Construction permits granted, and the implementation of works in accordance with them,

The source of funds and the money laundering schemes behind these projects,

Connections between builders and senior state officials.

These buildings have become a symbol of corruption and money laundering in Albania, becoming part of international reports and negative echoes in the world media.
