The leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Sali Berisha, in a statement to the media, spoke again about the statements made to EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato and the reactions of EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.

He stated that he used the ambassador's own public statement regarding his sexual orientation and that it was not an insult.

However, the leader of the DP said he would reconsider his position.

"The simplest thing for me is to apologize. But if Ambassador Gonzato, in a statement made public by himself, said that I was married and my little son is 31 years old and now I live with a partner or I am married to a man and this statement was used by me, absolutely without any intention of insult. I am the author of a law that has definitively ended any form of discrimination. I said here that he himself was binary and then changed his mind. I had not done any investigation into his life. Nor do I deal with the life of any person. I heard him, he said it himself and he made this statement. How this is an insult, I do not understand. I used a statement, something that I said myself. If he considers this an insult then I will certainly reconsider my position, I apologize to him, I have no hesitation, but this was not an insult. This does not constitute an insult", said Berisha./ CNA
