The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, spoke this evening about the affair of the incinerators. Veliaj said in an interview with Ilir Babaramon that this issue should be resolved by the prosecution and the court.

He stated that he cannot close the incinerator because someone has committed corruption.

Also, the socialist mayor repeated the statement that whoever made mistakes should be held responsible.

"As for the part of the incinerators, there is an investigation here. It must be resolved by the prosecution and the court. So, it's like I say, one way for there to be no fines in the media, is for us all to turn off the televisions, but we all know that's impossible.

Or to say another thing, one way for us not to have accidents on the road is to close all the highways, because it is certain that there will be no more accidents if there were no more roads. Or a way for no patient to have problems with corrupt doctors, is to close all hospitals because then there will be nothing to corrupt because there is none.

But we know it doesn't work that way in real life. In real life if a teacher is violent, you fire the teacher, you don't close the schools. And automatically, if in this process of good will to clean Tirana, which is clearly cleaner today, someone has made a mistake, that person should go and pay for it and give an account.
