Abilekaj: The EU integration process has been frozen due to the elections

Journalist Enton Abilekaj, invited to "Çim Peka Live" on Syri TV, spoke about Albania's integration into the European Union and the May 11 elections.

Abilekaj said that Albania's entry into the EU depends on holding free and fair elections.

He said that Prime Minister Edi Rama is responsible for the distortion of the elections and stressed that the intervention of an Italian expert in the electoral process, who knows the Albanian mentality, shows the seriousness of the OSCE this time.

"Last week, the European Commission decided not to issue the progress report on Albania until June. This showed that two meetings with the intergovernmental integration commissions were also canceled. They have frozen every process with Albania for the elections. It is clear that Albania can only join the EU by holding free elections and becoming a European country. The one who ruined the elections was Edi Rama.

"The fact that we have brought an Italian, who knows the Albanian nature and how Albanians want to disrupt the elections, I think that the OSCE delegation is also much more serious than other times. Albania is said to enter the EU in 2027 even if Rama steals the elections, but it will not enter if the elections are distorted as they have been until now," said Abilekaj.
