May 11th elections/ Janisheri removes party from coalition

The leader of the Pensioners' Party, Selami Jenisher, has removed the party from the coalition with the opposition. Jenisher had previously stated that he could make this decision.

Jenisher has officially filed a request with the Central Election Commission, through which he requests his removal as an electoral subject from the coalition, with which he was registered as part of to run in the parliamentary elections.

The request states that the electoral entity 'People's Union of Albanian Pensioners' Party renounces participation in the elections of May 11, 2025.

"We inform you and request that the electoral subject Party Popular Union of Albanian Pensioners renounces participation in the elections of May 11, 2025, for the Assembly of Albania, as an electoral subject and as part of the coalition "Alliance for a Greater Albania" registered for the elections of May 11, 2025, while the elections of May 11, 2025 are illegal, invalid and even unconstitutional and cannot be held, when the review of all complaints for the elections of April 25, 2021 has not yet been completed and thus according to the Electoral Code for the elections of April 25, 2021, mandates cannot be allocated, as they are illegal and in violation of the Electoral Code with which the elections of April 25, 2021 were held.

"As a result, the elections of May 11, 2025 become invalid (null), illegal and unconstitutional, and in any case, no action can be taken for the elections of May 11, 2025 until April 25, 2025," the request states. /CNA
