May 14, Sotiraq Filo vs Ledina Aliolli/ Race for the Municipality of

Sotiraq Filo from the Socialist Party and Ledina Alolli from the "Together We Win" coalition will compete in the May 14 elections for Korça Municipality.

Sotiraq Filo is looking for the 3rd full term after he ran the Korça Municipality for half a term in 2013, when Niko Peleshi resigned.

Before the election as mayor, he served as its vice-mayor for a period of 6 years.

During this campaign, Filo is holding meetings not only in the city, but also in rural areas, accompanied by representatives of the Socialist Party as well as the minister Niko Peleshi, delegated in these elections.

In his program for the next mandate, Sotiraq Filo promises the completion of the thermal insulation of collective housing in Korça, as well as the city's gasification project for heating families.

The construction of the tourist and sports airport as well as "Korçarena" which includes the new stadium, the winter pool and the reconstruction of the Sports Palace are part of the program.

Added value for tourism will be winter sports where a winter resort and a ski slope will be built.

Opposite the current mayor is the candidate Ledina Aliolli, elected with the vote of confidence of the Democrats during the Primaries.

Ledina Aliolli is a lecturer and dean of economics at the Faculty of Economics at "Fan Noli" University of Korça with a long career both in the academic world and in politics.

For Aliolli, the challenge for mayor of Korça is extremely important, as it will be her first mandate, while earlier she was a member of the Parliament of Albania. The slogan of the campaign is: "Korça in your hands".

In its program, Aliolli as a major project promises the thermal insulation of all Korca apartments as well as the city's central heating project. Some other points of her program are: lowering taxes, halving the price of firewood, free parking throughout the territory of the Korçë Municipality, construction of a large underground parking lot and support of rural areas.

The focus, in the 4-year term of this mandate, will be given to tourism, social and agricultural development, as well as infrastructure improvement.

The race of the two candidates, Filo and Aliolli, is expected to be strong, although both are conducting a quiet campaign by holding meetings with residents of the city and villages of the Korçë Municipality./ CNA.al
