The chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, spoke this evening about the electoral campaign for the May 14 elections.

Celibashi declared on Eni Vasili's show that the conditions for running in the elections are not met.

He emphasized that everything possible has been done by the CEC to make the competition equal, but the government in power is more privileged than the media.

"The CEC has fulfilled its obligations to enable voters to ensure the integrity of the elections and the parties a competition under the most equal conditions, since I cannot say that the conditions of the competition are absolutely equal.

There have been cases when the intervention of the CEC has been needed to establish rules regarding the way political parties have carried out their campaign. I must say that compared to other elections, there is a more respectful approach from the electoral subjects of the Electoral Code regarding the campaign.

The development of electoral meetings, propaganda materials, have been in a more complete respect of the Code than in the previous elections. The system itself and the economic, social and political realities influence the creation of a climate that is not completely equal.
