The former Minister of Justice, Fatmir Xhafaj, has analyzed the political situation, as we are only a few days away from the May 14 local elections.

Xhafaj said in an interview with journalist Arbër Hitaj that the winner in these elections is clearly the Socialist Party, as he claims that the opposition has lost the trust of the citizens.

He declared that the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the former leader of the DP, Lulzim Basha betrayed the voters and it will take a lot of work to build the opposition.

"SP is the winning party in these elections and it is easily visible because of the support it has among voters. This is not only shown by polls. They have in common the fact that in the polls the winners of this race are the winning SP, but this is facilitated by the fact that it is a divided opposition, but also with a leader, it is a little old, but also harmful. With what the opposition has demonstrated, the SP remains the most reliable political force today. DP will long suffer the fact that they abandoned the parliament and boycotted the local elections.

They have done a great harm to the opposition party and undoubtedly to the democracy in the country. The biggest damage was done by Sali Berisha and Lulzim Basha. Very few of them have asked for a public apology. As long as this has left noise not only from the point of view of the internal organization, but in the relationship of trust between the DP and the voters, the relationship between the DP and the voters has been broken, since they betrayed their voters and to conceive this it may take a lot of work. This side is such that it doesn't give us the opportunity to see each other and keep us on the right track", emphasized the former minister./ CNA.al
