In the last days of the campaign for the May 14 elections, the opposition candidate for Tirana municipality, Belind Kelliçi, held meetings with the residents of Unit No. 9 in the capital. In this area, Kelliçi said that Tirana suffers from economic, social and infrastructural problems. He mentioned the fact that today the capital faces the problem of lack of drinking water, for which the current head of the municipality Erion Veliaj advocates that there is 24 hours a day.

"That is, to be in the heart of Tirana, to be at Unit No. 9, to be here to talk about the lack of drinking water, the lack of roads, the lack of green spaces, the lack of nurseries, kindergartens and schools , that you have a problem in unit no. 9, this is intolerable. Tirana is languishing economically, the village of Tirana is left in oblivion. The citizens of Tirana have a basic need for the most basic issues that a citizen has, for drinking water. In your neighborhood, you pay three times for drinking water: you pay UKT for the water you bring to the tap, which you don't drink; you pay for the water for drinking and cooking for all families; and you pay the pump a third time to deliver the water to the tanks so that you have water. Meanwhile, every day on TV we see a striking propaganda that says: _"Tirana has drinking water 24 hours a day". Here it is a mind game" - said Kelliçi.

Following this discussion, Kelliçi said that the objective of his work will be to work to bring at least 14 hours a day of water to the citizens of Tirana. "When I sat with the experts, with the water engineers, when I spoke at length about this issue, I was told textually: _"Due to the current amortized network, destroyed in Tirana, due to construction without criteria, due to that in an area, for example, where the sewage network for white and black water is provided for 20,000 inhabitants, for example, today we have 50,000 inhabitants, the network is so amortized that for four years you cannot make the water drinks for 24 hours. And what happened? I didn't promise that I can't do it. But I promised that we will actually have drinking water, I will try to ensure that the first four years of water is drinkable from the tap and that we actually have 14 hours of drinking water, but it actually comes to the tap, without a pump. This is very important."

Further, Belind Kelliçi spoke about the priorities of his program, emphasizing the promise of free bus. According to him, this promise had a wide impact on the citizens of Tirana, assuring them that after May 14 the free bus will be a reality.

"Do you understand what impact my proposal for the free bus has had in the city?! It is used by 200 thousand citizens per day, it costs 16.5 million euros per year. And those who spend 430 million euros for ghost incinerators, are taken from morning to dinner and say where Belindi will find the money. But when there were 430 million euros for phantom incinerators, there was not 16.5 million euros for 200 thousand citizens per day?! But why are they upset? Because this measure helps the poor, helps pensioners, helps students, helps families in need, helps all those who need economic support. And what does it do, it lowers the cost of living by 52,000 lek per month, it leaves the citizens 52,000 lek more per month in their pockets, those who use it" - said Këlliçi.

In this meeting, Belind Kelliçi also presented other priorities of his program.

_"It is the underpass to "Skënderbej Square", which is almost ready to be made underground, without destroying the square. It is a measure that eases traffic in Tirana and what does it do? In addition to removing 60% of the traffic in the center, you should know that all those who use cars on a daily basis in Tirana, spend an average of 28 minutes a day in traffic, which means 1.5 to 1.7 liters of fuel more per day. It means 100 thousand ALL per month, that the calculation must be done at the end of the day. We will save this money for them too, we will leave it in the pockets of all citizens. The third priority I have is the construction of nurseries, kindergartens and schools, the Lana river will be retrained, Lana only needs two collectors to remove the smell that pollutes the whole city. The package I have for small and medium business, today I signed the contract, to reduce taxes and fees for 45 thousand entities, what does it mean? At least €45,000 per family!" said Këlliçi.

As the denunciations of vote buying and intimidation have increased in recent days, Belind Kelliçi called on citizens to go out and vote en masse on May 14. According to him, their vote will be protected by the opposition. "The Democratic Party is undoubtedly on its feet to defend the vote on May 14, in every commission, in every voting center, in every area of ??Tirana. Come out and vote! On the 14th, we must do our best to tell our citizens, our fellow citizens: come out and vote, participate in the process, because I guarantee you that no citizen who happily leaves home that day to vote will go to vote. Erion Velinë, I guarantee this," said the opposition candidate for Tirana's municipality, adding further that: "On the day of the vote, please, talk to the citizens, neighbors, friends, relatives, tribe, whoever you can, you please keep something in mind: when they go to the ballot box, to the secret room, it's just you and God above. You can't see the vote for either Belind Kelliçi or Erion Veliaj, because he is intimidating the public administration, he is terrorizing the Municipality of Tirana, he is terrorizing the deserted employees," concluded Këlliçi./CNA.al
