How good it would be if we emigrated to gain a new culture!

The departure of the people is a really big problem. Villages and cities are abandoned, the most active part of society is gone, there are no jobs, consumers are leaving...and it all boils down to one point: Economic cost.

But I think the problem is bigger than that; wherever we go, in whatever society we integrate, we remain "Albanian" again. We remain like that, even if we don't know how to speak the Albanian language.

There are many who see the loss of identity, language, ties of immigrants with their families and homeland as another problem...

Por unë mendoj sërish se e mira e të mirave do të ishte që shqiptarët të ruanin gjuhen dhe lidhjet me mëmëdheun, por të humbisnim ca shumë veti të tjera. Ose më saktë, të fitonin cë veti e aftësi të reja.

Të fitonin një kulturë pune, edukatë qytetare, mjedisore, kulturën e jetesës në komunitet, të respektimit të mjedisit publik…

Dhe, mbi të gjitha, të fitonin një kulturë të re të marrëdhënies me shtetin dhe qeverisjen.

Të mos jemi servilë, interesaxhinj, të mos jemi të përulur dhe të nënshtruar, të jemi kryenecë e kryengritës kur na shkelin të drejtat e kur na mashtrojnë, të ngrejmë krye kur na vjedhin e na gënjejnë.

Ta shikojmë shërbimin ndaj vendit dhe popullit si detyrim dhe përkushtim, dhe jo mundësi për të zhvatur e përfituar.

If living in other countries, among other civilized and educated peoples, would help us take an evolutionary step in this direction, then good luck to as many Albanians as possible, in a school that is not taught in schools.

But I am afraid that we will change in this direction. I see this in those who, when there are elections, load up on buses and come to vote for the parties that pay them the road ticket and a sandwich.

I look at the same mindset that those who live abroad have, like us here, who wake up and sleep watching Rama, Berisha and Meta on the screens.

In short, what I want to happen is that we do not emigrate simply and only for bread and better living conditions, but we emigrate to benefit from a new culture. /CNA.al
