By Lutfi Dervishi/ The mystery of a murder that (didn't) happen

The small lake town that is experiencing renaissance in every field, especially in technology, woke up shocked by an inexplicable episode.

At a time when technology has reached its peak, when and where everything is monitored, supervised and meticulously regulated, an event occurred that aimed to cast aspersions on the perfect system and undeniable achievements.

On a hot summer afternoon, when the thermometer refused to drop below 34 degrees, the ambulance and the police arrived at a crime scene, perhaps for the first time in history, before the crime took place. And this is where the problem started.

The victim, a manager of a small rented bar, dared not pay the "fine", did not yet need a doctor, and the aggressor had not yet raised his hand to hit him.

The police, thanks to the Police Intelligence and the close cooperation with the partners, stopped the suspect suddenly. An unprecedented success, of course thanks to the reforms! Even the cameras of the bar where the event happened and the one opposite, equipped with the latest technology (according to the requirements of the law) and with high resolution, recorded everything. But, unfortunately, the resolution was so high that no one could see anything. The images were so detailed that they became a jumble of pixels that didn't serve the investigation.

Meanwhile, the eyewitnesses, in heroic efforts to describe the event, offered their versions filled with details: but, interestingly, they all converged on one point: "we saw nothing."

Despite all these efforts, the surprise came: the murder happened.

How? This remained a mystery.

Someone said it was like an episode of "Schrödinger's Paradox" – the victim was both alive and dead at the same time, until the police were sure.

The prosecution, based on the suspect's testimony, reached a scientifically based conclusion: the event had occurred due to high temperatures, nearby fires, the war in Ukraine and Gaza, and the impact of global warming. This conclusion was also supported by a new study, which says that high heat causes aggression in people, especially when they are in the vicinity of small bars that do not pay fines.

Based on these facts, the killing was classified as "negligent". The prosecutor calmly explained that it was nobody's fault; man cannot resist the power of nature. As a result, the aggressor will be punished with a symbolic "fine", so as not to lose the ancient traditions of the legal system and not cast a shadow of doubt on the reformed Justice.

The court appreciated the fact that the victim did not lose anything other than his life - the day's turnover was still in his pocket. In a world where money is everything, loss of life is simply a fact.

The Prime Minister, with a calm and measured smile, praised the quick and professional response of the police and emergency services. He called this a perfect example of the success of the reformed system. However, he did not spare criticism of the media, for misinformation and spreading panic. "It is inexcusable," he said, "that so much fuss should be made about such a trivial incident, when it has been amply proved that our system worked best!"

And so, the small town of a small country with a big ego goes on with its life, celebrating the reforms and making "likes" and comments on Facebook.

In fact, half of the city says that the murder did not happen at all, while half of the country says that the system works!
