Don't desecrate December 1990.

Do you know why we were successful in December 1990 and February '91?

When we demanded, protested, went on hunger strike, and received many things, which today you take for granted?

Because, despite promises that pluralism would be proclaimed; despite being told that the dictator's name would be removed from the university, we stayed.

We were not deceived for a moment by the promises that there would be pluralism, freedom, the removal of the dictator's name; we were not deceived by the promise that the lights and water would come tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

We stood in the square, on strike, hungry and shaken; unarmed, but also determined to wash away the shame of a country that was silently and unsuccessfully governed for fifty years by the destructive communist dictatorship. We boys and girls were, for a few days, the besieged free men of our contemporary Albanian history. A generation of 22-year-old boys and girls who made politics with words, with songs, with their souls and, above all, with their young bodies shaken by hunger. A generation that woke an entire people from their lethargic sleep and killed fear. A generation of 22-year-olds who risked their lives, their studies, to gain a moment that lives forever. A generation of real men!
We then stood up and stood with what we knew until the end.

Even though we were later taken advantage of out of naivety!
We didn't abandon our efforts!

Because we didn't rise up to overthrow false myths and replace them with the real thing!
Because we knew that to have something we'd never had, we had to do something that had never been done!

We did not stand for our ideals and our homeland to be prostituted daily by the scoundrels who have been governing for 35 years!

Therefore, with your revolt and protagonism, you bastard, don't desecrate or give me December '90 anymore.

Neither with December 2018, nor with December 2025...

Because you will never have the fortune to live and make your December...

Now set off fireworks, sing and dance in the squares, unwashed as you are, and enjoy yourself with your mouths and armpits stinking, not so much from lack of water, but from dignity.
