Capitulation for two

The chronicles of the day with very high rates and hallucinating are creating an ever more suffocating atmosphere where people do not have time to absorb one development, digest it and get comfortable, since the next one is right behind the door.

In these conditions, less and less is being seen beyond the fog, what is happening behind the events of the moment.

However, it does not take much to understand that Albania is going through one of its most challenging moments. It has already become clear and widely accepted, that corruption and the links between crime and politics in these 11 years are the steep mountain that we have to cross to find the normal path, the path followed by European countries that want to become part of the family of the EU.

Recognizing and accepting the problem remains an achievement. Corruption and the nexus of crime and politics due to monstrous proportions became unmasked by government propaganda and stunts. They are now here, open, in the middle of the table for all to see.

Brutal affairs such as those of incinerators, of roads, and aimless and greedy thefts in the Municipality of Tirana, involvement in gangs and mafia families as servants of many police leaders, electoral reports and the implication in elections of the most notorious, have seriously shocked the conscience of the public and trust in politics, in representatives, in institutions.

Two people above all others have come to the fore of the scene these days, as the characters where these threads are mostly connected, where these phenomena are represented. They are Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj.

It is not well known what justice is being done to them. Half of the big boss's associates have been arrested, the rest are called from time to time to SPAK. The next-of-kin is under the same conditions, while it is believed that an investigation has been launched directly against him.

Even though it seems like a difficult day for the country, from the devastation caused by going out on the streets and so many atrocities, from the discovery of many truths of corruption and the connection between the government and crime, again, a good, golden moment is in the background, so that can turn all of this around.

Which is gross justice, complete, exhaustive, without limits.

Such justice would not only be reparation for the damage done to the country and the people, but it would also be the vital transplant to the stunted stature of a republic with so many transitional languors.

And also, a safe vaccine that would protect this organism from such phenomena in the future. So nothing less than the transformation of Albania into a European, Western order.

Although quite possible, this instance, this station comes to people's eyes as utopian. There is a lot of skepticism. Several recent developments have rightly fueled this suspicion. SPAK has been tendentious and merciless towards the leaders of the Opposition, those who do not have power, and soft, tolerant, understanding towards the leaders of the majority in power.

This makes the dream of justice seem distant and fleeting. In addition, there is an even greater danger. We know that evil has no end. What if, after all these scandals, the body from which justice is expected, leaves untouched, without bringing before the law, the two characters who have become one with the phenomena?

Then we would be nothing less than in front of a familiar scene of horror. Frankenstein would look like a cartoon compared to the monsters this scenario would produce.

The country with the biggest corruption in Europe, with the most criminal connections of the government with gangs and mafia families, the place where the opposition leader's lawyer is beaten to death in broad daylight near the children's kindergarten, it seems as if it is leaving the real responsible unpunished, real bosses.

I wish very much that this does not continue to happen, because it would be the capitulation of Albania, slipping into a course that has nothing to do with Europe and our aspiration as a nation.

This should be the first duty of justice today, not to allow such abuse. That's why it has so much power, so much has been invested there, precisely to correct the deviations caused by corruption and crime.

It would be unforgivable for justice to not fulfill its responsibility and to preserve the privileges, career, future and interests of two people, two individuals, to throw the country into the abyss. The other solution, which comes from the people, always has great costs, but apparently it is the only hope to preserve our long-standing aspiration to be free citizens in the European Union./CNA
