A new railway line will connect Prague, Berlin and Copenhagen from 2026

Europe's long-distance rail network will get another boost in 2026.

Starting next May, passengers will be able to travel by train from Prague to Copenhagen via Berlin.

Deutsche Bahn, Danish Railways and Czech Railways are teaming up to offer the new direct connection, which will start on May 1, 2026, when repair work on the line between Berlin and Hamburg is completed.

The year-round daily service will operate in both directions and is expected to take just seven hours between Copenhagen and Berlin, and around eleven hours between Copenhagen and Prague. The operators will also extend a night train during the summer season that currently connects Hamburg and Copenhagen with Prague.

The line will be served by CD's new ComfortJet trains, which offer a wide range of amenities, including an on-board restaurant, Wi-Fi, bicycle space and space for 555 passengers.

The high-speed trains also have wheelchair lifts, a children's cinema and transparent windows for radio, which improve mobile connectivity and passenger comfort. /CNA
