He was transporting contraband for 1,500 euros/ The 35-year-old man was arrested

The police have finalized the police operation coded "Midnight 15", as a result of which a person was arrested in the act.

It is about the citizen with the initials DD, 35 years old, resident in Shkozet, Durrës.

The 35-year-old was caught red-handed by the Police, in the village of Vërdovë, Pogradec, while he was transporting 21 immigrants from third countries with a van, against payments of 1000-1500 euros/person, with the aim of illegally crossing the border, with the final destination of the states of the EU.

Also, following the procedural actions for this case, on the mobile phone of the DD citizen, active online sites for illegal sports betting were found.

As material evidence, the van in which the immigrants were transported, 2 mobile phones and a sum of money suspected to have benefited from this criminal activity were seized.

Work is currently underway to legally prove the criminal activities in which the DD citizen may be implicated, as well as to identify and arrest his accomplices.

Thus, the procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the Korça General Jurisdiction, for further actions./ CNA
