Drug trafficking from the Netherlands/ 3 Albanians sentenced to prison by the

Eighty years in prison is the verdict read in court today by the president of the Brindisi court, Stefania De Angelis, against seven defendants. The first instance trial concerned large quantities of drugs imported from the Netherlands and destined for Oria.

Sentences and details of sentence

- Fabrizio Russo (48 years old, from Oria, but born in Monopoli): nine years and nine months in prison and a fine of 11,500 euros

-Salvatore Schiavone (34 years old, born in Brindisi and resident in Oria): eight years and 8,000 euros;

-Adrian Boci (35 years old, Albanian) with 13 years and six months, continuing a previous sentence

-Salvatore Chionna (47 years old, from Francavilla Fontana): seven years and 30,000 euros

- Roberto Mazzuti (49 years old, from Oria): eight years and 8,000 euros;

-Kujtim Metaj (60 years old, Albanian): 22 years and six months;

-Romeo Myftari (43 years old, Albanian): 12 years in prison.  

The defendants in this case faced various charges, including membership in an international drug trafficking organization (Boci, Metaj and Myftari, along with other already convicted defendants), aggravated extortion using mafia methods (Mazzuti, Russo and Schiavone, along with other already convicted defendants), and drug possession and distribution. /CNA
