Following a publication on social media where a person throws garbage into the Black Drini River, the police have initiated criminal proceedings on charges of water pollution against MM, 64, the owner of a bar.

The 64-year-old has also been fined 13 million lek by the Environmental Protection Directorate.

Regarding a video published on social networks, which shows a minor citizen throwing garbage into the water of the Black Drini River, we inform you that:

Immediately after the publication, verifications were carried out regarding the case and, at the end of the first investigative actions, the services of the Dibër Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated in a free state for the criminal offense of "Water Pollution", against citizen MM, 64 years old, resident of the village of Muhurr, after, while working at his bar, he allowed a minor citizen to throw waste into the waters of the Black Drini River, polluting the waters of this river.

Also, the Directorate of Environmental Protection imposed an administrative measure in the amount of 13,000,000 (thirteen million) lek against citizen MM, for the violation committed in violation of the law on environmental protection.

The Dibër Local Police Directorate thanks citizens and the media for their cooperation, and invites them to continue to denounce any case of abuse or violation of the law, guaranteeing an immediate, fair and impartial response.
