Fire situation in 24 hours/ Ministry of Defense: 18 fires reported, 2 still

The Ministry of Defense has reported the fire situation in the country for the last 24 hours.

The ministry's report states that 18 fires have been reported in the last 24 hours, of which two are still active while two others are under monitoring.

During the last 24 hours, 18 fires have been reported, of which 2 are active and 2 are under monitoring.

These fire outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Bulqizë, Dibër, Rrogozhinë, Përmet, Pogradec, Saranda, Vlorë, Lezhë, Mirditë, Kurbin, Kuçovë, Berat, Librazhd, Fier and Malësi e Madhe.

Currently, the following outbreaks remain active:

• Dibër Region. In the place called “Lake of Flowers”, part of the Lura National Park, Lura administrative unit, Dibër municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in a forest area with pine trees and meadows. 6 employees of the Dibër MZSH, 5 forestry forces, 20 municipal forces, 30 employees from the Armed Forces, and the Cougar helicopter were engaged to extinguish it. As a result, an area of about 30 ha has been covered. Today, work is continuing with the same capacities by the operational forces to extinguish the fire.

• Tirana Region. In the village of Zambish, Lekaj administrative unit, Rrogozhina municipality, efforts were made to extinguish a fire that broke out in an area with oak trees. Yesterday, the fire grew even larger due to the wind and spread to the villages of Berdal, Thartor and Moroj, endangering homes at times. The local Fire Department Service of the Rrogozhina municipality was deployed at the scene with 1 fire truck and 10 officers, 30 municipal forces, 20 volunteer forces, and 1 helicopter of the Armed Forces. Today, operational forces are continuing their work on the ground to finally extinguish the fire.

In monitoring:

• Lezha Region. On the border between the villages of Skuraj and Gallatë, Milot administrative unit, Kurbin municipality. 25 municipal forces, 20 police forces, 6 forces from the Forest Service, 3 volunteer forces and 30 members of the Armed Forces were deployed at the scene, combing the area. The terrain is steep and bushy. The fire remains under the monitoring of local structures. The burned area is about 23 ha.

• Elbasan County. In the place called “Mal Plak”, the Polis Administrative Unit, Librazhd Municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire in a forest area. The Librazhd Local Service of the MZSH with 1 fire engine and 8 officers, 3 forest inspectors as well as 10 volunteer forces were deployed at the scene, who worked until recently to bring the fire under control. The fire has low intensity and the fire remains under the monitoring of local structures.

The fires were mainly recorded in areas with bushes and vegetation, where as a result about 79 hectares were burned. In one case, in the village of Tarazh, Rrëshen administrative unit, Mirditë municipality, a fire broke out in a private house. As a result, the kitchen and living room of the house were burned. The cause of the fire is unknown.

26 firefighting vehicles and 268 operational forces were deployed in the firefighting operations. The Armed Forces also participated in yesterday's operations with 60 personnel and 2 Cougar helicopters.

Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, light rainfall is expected today in the Shkodra region, while no rainfall is expected in the other regions.

Regarding forest fires, a "HIGH" risk level is expected today in the regions of Lezhë, Tirana, Elbasan, Fier and Berat, and a "MODERATE" risk level in all other regions. In some regions, a "HIGH" risk is expected only in localized areas, specifically: the region of Shkodër (South) and Durrës (Northeast).

The entire civil protection system continues to monitor the situation and is fully prepared for rapid intervention.

Do not light fires in open spaces, do not burn garbage, avoid any action that could cause a fire. Even the slightest carelessness can have serious consequences for the environment, property and people's lives.
