Attempted to smuggle various goods/ 58-year-old arrested in Kakavija

A 58-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle various goods into Albania.

The 58-year-old was captured by the Kakavija Border Police services.

During the search, the citizen's vehicle and goods were seized.

Police Announcement:

The Border Police Services in Kakavije, in continuation of their work to combat cross-border crimes, based on risk analysis, have passed through a second-line check, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, the vehicle driven by citizen HM.

During the search of the vehicle, the Police services found and seized goods (dozens of cartons of cigarettes, meat products and other products), without accompanying invoices, which this citizen attempted to smuggle into Albania to sell.

At the conclusion of the investigative actions, the Crime Investigation specialists of the DVKM Gjirokastër arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen HM, 58 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offenses "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension of customs or excise duties" and "Smuggling of other goods".

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
