Smuggled oil from RMV/ 31-year-old arrested, customs officer at Gorica Border

A 31-year-old customs officer from the Gorica Border Crossing Point has been arrested and criminally prosecuted for smuggling goods.

The 31-year-old man who was arrested had a quantity of oil in his vehicle for which he had no document or receipt.

EF, 46, a customs officer at the Gorica border checkpoint, was criminally prosecuted after allegedly failing to check the 31-year-old's vehicle.

A quantity of oil smuggled from North Macedonia is caught red-handed during its transportation and the 31-year-old is arrested. 

A customs officer is being prosecuted for abuse of office.     

The quantity of oil is seized.  

Following the intensified work of the services of the Korça Local Directorate of Border and Migration, during the summer season, with the aim of preventing and combating cross-border crimes, a case of smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid has been cracked. 

On the "Pustec-Bigëll" road axis, near the Gorica BCP, the Border Police services stopped the vehicle driven by citizen MP. During the search in the vehicle, a reserve tank with a quantity of oil was found, for which citizen MP did not have any documents or receipts.   

At the conclusion of the procedural actions in this case, the Crime Investigation specialists of the Korça Local Directorate of Border and Migration:

-arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen MP, 31 years old, resident of Korça, for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension of customs or excise duties"; 

-the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", against citizen EF, 46 years old, resident of Rogozhina, customs officer at the Gorica BCP, as it is suspected that he did not conduct a search of the vehicle of citizen MP  

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further action./ CNA
