Smuggled cattle registered/ 4 veterinarians arrested, 39-year-old wanted

Korça police have arrested 4 veterinarians and have declared a 39-year-old man wanted, suspected of livestock smuggling.

The 39-year-old wanted man is suspected of smuggling 100 small cattle and 20 head of cattle from Greece.

Then, in collaboration with the arrested veterinarians, they registered them with a registration card obtained from the veterinary office in Devoll.

Criminal proceedings were also initiated against 3 citizens who kept smuggled livestock in their stables.

 

Police notification

The police operation codenamed "Matriculli" is being finalized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section.    

120 smuggled small livestock and cattle registered, 4 veterinarians arrested in flagrante delicto.        

A 39-year-old man suspected of smuggling cattle and beef from Greece is wanted.   

Criminal proceedings are being filed against 3 citizens who kept livestock and cattle in their stables.  

All these actions were carried out in violation of the order of the Minister of Agriculture, temporarily banning the movement of small animals.   

The Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Specialists, in cooperation with the Trafficking Section, based on information obtained through operational means, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Matriculli", as a result of which:   

- citizens BM, 64 years old, resident of Durrës, KA, 57 years old, resident of Korça, and DK, 64 years old, resident of Maliq, employees (veterinarians) of the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority, Devoll branch, were arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office";  

- was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office" and "Exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions", citizen EL, 39 years old, resident of Devoll, employee (veterinarian) of the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority, Devoll branch;  

- citizen GM, 39 years old, resident of Devoll, was declared wanted, suspected of the criminal offenses "Smuggling of other goods", "Storage and storage of contraband goods", "Trading or transporting contraband goods", "Hiding income" and "Non-payment of taxes and duties"; 

- the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office where proceedings were initiated at large for citizens MM, 40 years old, resident of the village of Voskop, EZ, 48 years old, resident of Bilisht, and R. Zh., 57 years old, resident of the village of Tren, for the criminal offense "Storage or deposit of contraband goods". 

 

From the investigations, it is suspected that the citizen declared wanted GM, has smuggled 100 small cattle and 20 cattle from Greece. Then, it is suspected that in collaboration with the arrested citizens (veterinarians) they have registered the cattle and cattle, with the registrations they have received from the veterinary office in Devoll. The 3 prosecuted citizens are suspected of having kept in their stables, the cattle and cattle smuggled by the 39-year-old./ CNA
