Abuses worth 40 million lekë/ "House arrest" for Fier

The Fier Prosecutor's Office and police have finalized the "Parking" operation, within which two municipal administration officials were arrested and two others were suspended from duty.

AH, the former director of Taxes and Urban Planning and former deputy mayor of Fier Municipality, has been placed under the security measure "House Arrest" along with the director of Verification and Field Coordination.

These people have abused 40 million lek from the coffers of the Fier Municipality by not setting up a fiscal cash register for the municipality's parking lot.

Police notification

The Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section of the Fier DVP under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, after several months of investigative work, within the framework of a criminal proceeding of 2025, has finalized the police operation "Parking".

Within its framework, the following security measures were implemented:

- “House arrest” for citizen AH, 34 years old, resident of Fier, former General Director of Taxes and Urban Planning of the Municipality of Fier and former Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Fier, for the criminal offenses of “Abuse of office” and “Exercise of illegal influence over persons exercising public functions;

- "House arrest" and "Suspension of exercising a public duty or service" for citizen VC, 41 years old, resident of Fier, Director of the Directorate of Verification and Coordination in the Field for the Southern Region at the Fier Regional Tax Directorate, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office";

- "Suspension of the exercise of a public duty or service", for citizen AC, 38 years old, resident of Fier, Director of the Directorate of Local Taxes and Tariffs in the Municipality of Fier, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office";

- "Suspension of exercising a public duty or service" and "Prohibition of leaving the country", for citizen M. D, 57 years old, resident of Fier, General Secretary of the Municipality of Fier, for the criminal offense of "Exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions".

These citizens, by not acting according to the legal framework for establishing the fiscalization cash register for the underground parking administered by the Fier Municipality, have not collected the amount of about 40 million lek in the coffers of the Fier Municipality.

Also, these citizens, through abuse of office, have reduced the taxes of various commercial entities in Fier, against their benefit.
