The month of January started with a significant increase in both accidents and those injured by them.

INSTAT reported that in January 2024 there were 162 road accidents. Compared to the same month of the previous year, accidents have doubled, while in January 2023 84 accidents were registered.

The same trend has been noted by the number of injured people from these accidents. According to INSTAT, the number of accident victims (killed and injured) is 229 people in the month of January 2024. The number of injured people almost doubled. In the same month of a year ago, there were 119 dead and injured.

According to INSTAT, road accidents, in 84.0% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents in this period was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 26.5% of the total number of accidents.

In January 2024, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Tuesday with 19.1%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Friday with 10.5%.

In the month of January 2024, the highest number of road accidents occurred during the time frame 12:00-14:00, accounting for 20.4% of the total number of road accidents.
