Belgium sentences Ramazan Rrajë to 12 years in prison/ Nephew of the
Ramadan Rraja

The Belgian authorities have convicted Ramazan Rraja, as part of an Albanian-Latvian drug organization that trafficked cocaine.

The court sentenced Rraja to 12 years in prison, three years more than the Public Prosecution had requested.

Also, the 36-year-old Latvian Kaspars N., described as the "head" of the criminal group, was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The Public Prosecutor's Office had portrayed the Latvian group as a "high-level" criminal organization that made huge profits from cocaine smuggling and trafficking.

The prosecution based this accusation on the boxes found with money obtained from criminal activity, and luxury watches.

Kaspars N. was caught by wiretapping talking to Rraja about a container that was located at quay 1742.

In this container with bananas, the investigators did not find anything, but during other controls, 187 kilograms of cocaine were found in the ports of Vlissingen and Civitavecchia./ BA - CNA.al
