Vu?i? and Dodik discuss the resolution on Srebrenica and the "protection

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Friday in Belgrade with Milorad Dodik, the nationalist president of the Serb entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska.

Among the main topics they discussed was a resolution on Srebrenica, which is expected to be voted on by the United Nations General Assembly this month.

"The key topic of the conversation was the relations between Serbia and the Republika Srpska, as well as the reaction of the entire Serbian people to the adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica," wrote Vucic on the Instagram social network.

Vu?i? also indicated that he informed Dodik "about the efforts that the Republic of Serbia is making to protect the vital and national interests of the Serbian people, as well as public international law."

Vucic reiterated that the adoption of such a resolution "means opening Pandora's box for the future, opening countless wounds from the past".

"President Dodik informed me about the talks he had in Budapest with the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, and the further prospects for the development of relations between Serbia and Srpska," the announcement states.

He added that Dodik warned him that passing a resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica would have "catastrophic consequences for relations within Bosnia and Herzegovina".

A proposed resolution, initiated by Germany and Rwanda, calls for July 11 to be recognized globally as the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Srebrenica Genocide, and is expected to be put to a vote before the UN General Assembly in May.

The proposal-resolution, among other things, also calls for "unreserved condemnation of any denial of the genocide in Srebrenica, as well as actions that glorify those convicted of war crimes, including those responsible for the genocide."

Their leaders deny that genocide took place in Srebrenica, despite the fact that the International Court of Justice has recognized as such an act the killing of over 8,000 Muslim men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995.

To date, more than 50 individuals have been sentenced to approximately 700 years in prison for their roles in the Srebrenica genocide./ Rel
