Vucic confirms the crisis in the governing coalition

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said on February 7 that he had meetings with the leader of the Serbian Socialists, Ivica Dacic, and confirmed that relations between the two parties are in crisis.

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of Vu?iv and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) of Dacic, who are in the government coalition, suddenly entered into an unstable relationship.

Vucic told the Serbian television, Pink, that he does not think that the new elections are a solution, because as he said "we have many problems to solve".

He added that decisions will not be made overnight and that he will meet with Dacic on February 8.

"Dhe a kam besim të plotë (në SPS-në)? Personalisht nuk kam, por nuk do ta bazoja këtë në marrëdhëniet personale. Vendi është më i rëndësishëm se marrëdhëniet personale. Por, tani e dimë se në kohë të vështira mund të mbështetemi vetëm në veten tonë”, tha ai.

Vuçiç ka përmendur gjithashtu se ekziston mundësia e krijimit të një shumice tjetër në Kuvend, pa specifikuar se kush do ta krijojë atë.

Kuvendi i Serbisë ka 250 deputetë. Prej tyre, 106 janë nga radhët e Partisë Përparimtare, ndërsa 23 nga Socialistët.

Nëse presidenti i Serbisë do të vendoste për ndryshime pa zgjedhje, kjo do të nënkuptonte një ofertë për partitë opozitare.

Por, kjo do të nënkuptonte edhe ndryshime në politikë dhe nuk është e sigurt se cila parti do ta pranonte ofertën e SNS-së.

The opposition parties that have entered the Serbian Parliament are diverse - from pro-European to right-wing.

The coalition partners, SNS and SPS, have exchanged criticisms before, leading to speculations about early elections. However, the separation did not come and the alliance between them has continued without interruption since 2012.

However, extraordinary elections are not new for voters in Serbia, as they were held in 2014, 2016 and 2022./ VOA
