KLA Veterans: Form New Institutions or We Will Not Stand idly by

Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans' organizations have called on political parties, especially the Vetëvendosje Movement, as the leading party in the February 9 elections, to reach a solution for the constitution of the Assembly before July 26, a deadline set by the Constitutional Court. Otherwise, they have warned that they will not sit idly by, as the state of Kosovo cannot be held hostage by anyone.

The Vice President of the KLA War Veterans Organization, Gazmend Syla, said in a press conference that they are following with great concern the political crisis in the country, where after more than five months, new institutions are not being formed.

The Constitutional Court, in a judgment at the end of June, ruled that parliamentary parties must constitute the ninth legislature by July 26.

Syla said that if there is no solution and formation of institutions by July 26, then they will not sit idly by, however, he did not indicate what actions they might take.

Speaking about the rejection of the motion of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague to remove part of the indictment against former KLA superiors, Syla said that this court is political and that they are committed to politically opposing it.

He announced that they have sent letters to the embassies and ambassadors of friendly countries, MEPs and the US President's envoy for Special Missions, Richard Grenell.

Syla even said that meetings have been scheduled at four different embassies to discuss the Special Court, but he did not specify which ones.
