Trump calls Netanyahu about Gaza church attack

The White House said U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the Israeli attack on the only Catholic church in Gaza. The attack killed three people and wounded several others.

Shortly afterwards, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said that the situation in Syria was showing signs of de-escalation.

"Syria has agreed to withdraw troops from the area where the fighting has been fierce, and we continue to actively monitor the situation," Levitt said.

Earlier on Thursday, Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sarrah accused Israel of trying to disintegrate Syria and vowed to protect the Druze minority, following US intervention that helped broker a ceasefire between government forces and Druze militants. /CNA
