Ukraine: At least 10 killed by a Russian attack on a supermarket

At least 10 people have been killed and 35 injured in a Russian attack on a supermarket in Kostiantinivka, a town in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, Ukrainian officials said.

The Minister of the Interior of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, announced on Telegram about the increased number of victims.

"Russian terrorists hit an ordinary supermarket and a post office. There are people under the ruins. The rescue operation has begun and we will do everything to save them," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the X social network.

Earlier, Zelensky said that "for now, it is known about four people killed... at least 24 people injured. Russia will be held responsible for this terror and we will do everything to ensure that the world continues to support Ukraine to protect itself and save our people."

Vadym Filashkin, head of the regional military administration, wrote on Telegram that a Kh-38 missile was used in the attack.

"This is another attack that targeted a place where people gather. Another act of terror by the Russians," wrote Filashkin.

Footage from the scene showed black smoke billowing from the supermarket premises.

Emergency services are continuing rescue operations, Filashkin said.

Russian forces control large parts of the Donetsk region. Parts under Ukrainian control often face shelling and airstrikes.

This region is one of the areas where the fiercest fighting takes place.
