Trump orders firing of Labor Statistics Commissioner

Donald Trump has posted on Truth Social that he is ordering his team to "immediately" fire Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika McEntire.

The decision comes after today's employment report, with new data showing that US job growth in May, June and July slowed more than previously thought - a worrying sign for the economy.

"I have instructed my team to fire this Biden political appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone far more competent and qualified," he writes.

Trump accuses McEntire of falsifying "Employment Numbers before the Election to boost Harris' chances of victory."

"Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they cannot be manipulated for political purposes," Trump says./ CNA
