Trump supported Iranian protesters/Iranian Foreign Minister reacts

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reacted to US President Donald Trump's statements about the recent protests in Iran. Trump said that Washington is ready and armed to intervene if protesters who participated in the last days of protests against austerity measures are killed.

"President Trump's message today, apparently influenced by those who fear diplomacy or mistakenly believe it is useless, is foolish and dangerous. Even though the protests are largely peaceful, criminal attacks on public property are unacceptable," Araghchi said in his post on "X".

Iranian police spokesman Saeed Montazeralmahdi, in line with the minister, said he understood the protesters' economic demands, but noted that law enforcement would not tolerate chaos.

"These demonstrations, which are purely economic in nature, express the will of the people to improve their living conditions. The police clearly distinguish between the legitimate demands of the people and acts of destruction (…) and will not allow the enemies to turn the popular protest into riots and chaos," he said. /CNA
